Depressed [ Deep Rest ]

I kept journaling " I don't know how to describe the situation I'm in. It's uncharted territory. It's quiet, my day to day is normal. Right now my main focus has just been work. It's what I do everyday, It's what I can control. I'm not stressing out about financials... I'm functional. For some reason, I can't put a finger on what it is that has me bothered. " For the longest, I thought I was experiencing a lull of boredom. In reality, I'm suffering from a mild case of depression. It's the feeling of : I'll get to it later, I don't want to, I'm tired, not right now.


Even as I'm blogging this, I'm noticing that my energy is low. I'm sleepy but I always sleep. It's sunny outside and I have no desire to soak it in. I don't want to entertain anyone or anything. I don't want to turn on the T.V. I don't want to answer my phone messages... I don't want to. That's why I'm making this post. This is the perfect opportunity to make a pivot. When I start to feel this way, I immediately acknowledge that I am not the only person going through this feeling. This is happening collectively. I will also acknowledge that I will never be an overly positive person, but I don't have to keep things in the negative either. We just have to get to neutral. I can't fix everything overnight, but I can choose 1-3 things that could make me feel better day by day. Look, even if all you did today was get up and take a shower for 20 minutes, that's an accomplishment. Give yourself some grace for that. It's okay. The title of this post came from a video clip of Jim Carrey explaining his situation in dealing with depression. His therapist said, " It's more than your body saying that you need a break. Depressed sounds like Deep Rest... You need Deep Rest to recover. " During this season, It's all about things slowing down. The only thing I want you to take away from this post is to continue loving on yourself more than ever. Just get to the neutral zone. Accomplish one thing that you can control that will get you in a better mood for the day. Shit happens, things come up... It'll be okay. I promise. Take a break. I love you.
