This post is for all my singles. It's that time of year again where we get smacked with holidays and family - friend gatherings back to back. Although it's not necessarily a bad thing, if you're single and you're kind of a loner, this season hits differently for you. Forget about Valentine's day (ugh, the worst... it's my birthday and I dread it every year). First of all, If you're single and find it difficult to be on your own, It's okay. I promise you, you won't be single forever. Use this time to focus on you. As my buddy would tell me, " do EVERYTHING for you." Essentially, practice self- love. What does that look like? I'm glad you asked. I've compromised a list:
Positive thoughts only - Tell yourself you are bomb everyday!
Speak about what you're grateful for - Journaling helps
Take a trip solo dolo - Go off grid. Once you take one trip by yourself, the rest are a piece of cake.
Blast some feel good music - We be vibin'.
Sip & Paint - I've actually done this quiet a few times... so much fun.
Movie night - Pick one day out of the week when everyone else is at work. Less lines, less distractions.
Find a new restaurant - Comfort food. The best spots are the ones you have to drive to.
Start a skin care routine - Face masks are everything.
Get a massage - The best thing you never knew you needed. Let that tension go.
Dress up - Be "coffin - ready" ( that sounds morbid lol... just be sharp. Even if you don't end up going anywhere. Feel great about yourself )
Learn a new language - Rosetta stone anyone?
Join a gym - Get your mind right and your body tight.
Pick up an instrument - Music is a universal language.
Shop for a pet - Pets are a great source of emotional support.
Camping / Glamping - Get outdoors. Connect and ground with Nature.
Volunteer at a soup kitchen - A very humanitarian way to give back to the community.
Buy yourself a gift - Or several. Always treat yourself.
Read - Information is power.
Get your nails/ feet / hair done - Self explanatory
Shop for a new wardrobe - Old clothes carry old energy. Out with the old, in with the new.
Meet new people - Don't leave everything to dating sites. You have neighbors too.
Pick up a hobby - Make something a routine and commit to it.
Clean and detox your space - Keep things organized so you can function. (I highly recommend you sage )
Explore a Religion - Find your spiritual center.
Talk to a therapist - No better way to be seen and heard... and know how to deal with your triggers.
